Luke Serrano & Nicki Jackson
Luke Serrano began his love affair with swing dancing in 2007, though in 2011 he dedicated his heart to primarily dancing Balboa. Drawing upon his extensive experience as a professional musician and music teacher, Luke takes an informed and creative approach to interpreting the music in his dancing. This background allows him to passionately share his knowledge of the dance within a musical context in his classes. When not teaching, training or competing, Luke also enjoys DJing (and occasionally playing his saxophone) for the local Balboa community, to which he is a vibrant contributor.
Nicki Jackson had her humble swing dance beginnings in the London Lindy Hop scene many years ago. Her travels took her to dance exchanges in UK, Europe and North America. It was at a swing camp in Montreal that she took a seemingly innocent taster class in Balboa from Sylvia Sykes and has been hooked ever since.
Fueled by her love and joy of the dance alone, Nicki was never one to take her dance too seriously..... until she moved back to Melbourne and teamed up with Luke Serrano. Together, these dedicated dance partners now compete and place regularly across Australia, attend high level Balboa workshops and train weekly with Melbourne's premier Balboa troupe, The Maharajas.
